The presepe was created as a lighthearted nod to the Inspector Montalbano influence on the baroque towns of south east Sicily. Given the importance of the series to RAI and its presence on tv, the idea was to add Montalbano and Fazio interviewing a wise man while the traditional Presepe scene takes place behind them. Adding a perspecting of San Giorgio, the classic car of the polizia is parked while Fazio in his trademark black leather jacket helps Montalbano in his well worn brown jacket in his constant fight against crime!
