Given the horrors of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, this presepe was designed as a provocative comment on how distant the war can seem. A monochrome presepe the only colour is from the holy family which is found amongst the bombed out Ponte Puleri. Palazzo Grimaldi has been bmobed and Russian tanks are parked on the Corso and on the destroyed war memorial, as well as where the famous clock tower used to be.
